The LabraData ProjectAll of us who are “owned” by Labrador Retrievers want our dogs to have a superior quality of life for as many years as possible. In order to help accomplish this goal, the LabraData Foundation was created to maintain an open database for genetic, health and other relevant information about our breed. This information resource is open to Labrador owners around the world and provides a documented repository for the broad range of health and physical data about our breed. People from all nations can contribute information about their Labradors and view information about Labradors elsewhere easily and quickly from any computer. The "LabraDataBase" button allows you to enter the system for browsing or submitting data. Version 2.0 is now online and we invite everyone to view the wealth of information available. The LabraDataBase is only as useful as the data it contains, so we encourage Labrador owners worldwide to make their dogs part of this permanent, living history of our breed. As stewards for the system and its documents, the board solicits suggestions for future development and improvements - as well as the donations to make them a reality. This database belongs to the entire Labrador community and will grow to serve that community through their continued support. THE UNDERWRITER PROGRAM Our 2007 operating expenses were generously covered by a group of underwriting donors - sort of like public radio. Users applauded this program that allowed all submittals to be free of charge. We are now accepting the first 25 contributors at the $50 or greater level to be an underwriting sponsor for 2008. Each will get a small graphic with a web link that rotates into the upper right corner of all LabraDataBase pages. Some of these underwriter links are already in place for you to view. We want to provide a lot of display time for each rotating sponsor, so we are only accepting 25 again for this year. Prior contributors will have first opportunity to renew their positions, but new underwriters are also needed to complete our budget needs. If you would like to be included in this program, please let us know soon. For more information or questions about the underwriter program, please contact our technical coordinator. The foundation is currently seeking support from Labrador clubs and other organizations to assist with planned improvements and ongoing upgrades through annual bequests. Groups or individuals who wish to make donations may do so through our Gift Shop. We hope that Labrador enthusiasts from every corner of the world will contribute to this storehouse of data and support its operation so that it can become an historical reference tool for breeders, owners and Labrador lovers of the future. The following contributors have helped to make the project a reality! |
